Question: Where do I send my binder?
Answer: Please send your binder, with your application fee, to: Associated Builders and Contractors, Attn: 2011 Excellence in Construction Awards, 4250 North Fairfax Drive, 9th Floor, Arlington, VA 22203
Question: I am preparing the check for the entry fee. Who should it be made out to?
Answer: Please have the check made out to: Associated Builders and Contractors. Please be sure the check is NOT made out to your chapter.
Question: Is there a requirement for line spacing... Can pages be put back-to-back.... Are the maximum page requirements stringent... Because we are really re-submitting our package we submitted to the nationals... with the page requirements that changed, this is causing difficulty with submitting all material that was submitted previously...
Answer: The page requirements are firm. Please use single-sided sided pages. Single space is fine. The National Business Development Committee is urging chapters to mirror more of the National format in order to increase the opportunities for members to win at the National level. Consider that you are entering a different competition; be sure you follow the national requirements, from what should be on the front of your binder, to the order of the pages within the binder, etc.
Question: Our local chapter's entry requirements allowed a CD with 5 additional images. But I see that the national requirements states that there should be no more than 10 single-sided pages of photos, with no limitation.
Answer: You are correct. Photos are required. Our panel of judges do not have the opportunity to visit sites, therefore the visual becomes even more important. A CD or flashdrive with your digital photos saved at a minimum of 300 dpi resolution is required. Include the CD in a vinyl sleeve, properly labeled and securely fastened.
Question: We are reviewing the current entry form and would like clarification on a question. On the Project Safety From - are you looking for the man-hours for the entire project including all sub-contractors or since we were one of several prime contractors - just our contract hours as a prime?
Answer: Total hours for the project are required.
