WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 30– Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has named Brooke Wenger, director of business development at Triad Engineering Inc. in Hagerstown, Md., its 2016 Young Professional of the Year. Wenger, a member of ABC’s Cumberland Valley (CVC) and Keystone chapters, was among three finalists for the award chosen based on their career achievement, leadership and vision for future industry enhancement from a field of more than 30 nominations representing 20 ABC chapters across the country.

“Brooke is a tremendous example of the opportunities for advancement for talented young men and women in the merit shop construction industry,” said ABC Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment and Workforce Development Greg Sizemore. “While excelling in roles that have led to increasing levels of responsibility in her own career, Brooke has demonstrated an impressive commitment to the advancement of the careers of her colleagues and the betterment of the communities around her in her 16 years in the construction industry. We are proud that Brooke is a member of the ABC community and are fortunate to have driven young leaders like her.”

ABC’s Young Professional program was founded in 2014 and aims to shape the future of the construction industry by supporting the growth of professionals under the age of 40 who are employed by ABC member companies.

Wenger chairs the ABC CVC Young Professionals Group and serves on the chapter’s board of directors and Programs Committee. She is a member of ABC’s national Young Professional Peer Group.

Active in her community, Wenger is the co-chair of the Swing for a Cure softball tournament and serves on the Contractor’s Committee for United Way’s Day of Caring, the board of directors for the Tri-County Women’s Softball League and as an assistant coach on her daughter’s tee ball team. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State University and is a graduate of the Leadership Washington County program, where she was nominated as a cheerleader of Class 22.

Wenger was recognized during ABC’s 2016 Leadership Week Conference in Dallas in November. In addition to the award, she received a check for $1,000.
