Brasfield & Gorrie Reaches Out to the Community

Brasfield & Gorrie’s Raleigh office spent a Saturday in April to give back to their community by getting involved with the Brown Bag Ministry, an organization that provides food, water, clothing and shelter to the hungry or homeless in different areas of North Carolina.

Employees from ABC member Brasfield & Gorrie’s Raleigh office brought their families and friends, as well as volunteers from the local construction industry, to participate in a weekend community outreach event.

The morning was spent bagging different lunches which were later distributed to the homeless throughout the community. The volunteers were also able to serve a hot meal, which is provided twice a month through the organization.

“We handed out loaves of bread that were leftover and had some great conversations among the volunteers and needy,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Marketing Coordinator, Dana Funk. “We learned a lot about what it takes Brown Bag Ministry to run each Saturday and how they are able to sustain such a great organization.”

Each Saturday, the organization uses about 50 volunteers to help bag the lunches and a few more to distribute them. In just one weekend, Brasfield & Gorrie helped feed more than 1,000 people in downtown Raleigh.
