TRIMMER FELLOWS

The John P. Trimmer Fellowship Program was created to show appreciation for John Trimmer's lifelong commitment to the merit shop and his efforts to provide educational opportunities to those in the construction industry.  Trimmer (now deceased) was the first executive vice president of ABC 50 years ago and was very active in promoting the merit shop philosophy.

Trimmer Fellows:

  • Are employees or family members of an ABC member company or an ABC staff member.
  • Make a contribution of $1,000 or more to the program through the Construction Education Foundation.
  • Receive a plaque denoting status as a Trimmer Fellow.
  • Are recognized in related ABC publications and at related ABC events.
  • Are listed in the Registry of Fellows displayed at ABC's national headquarters and chapter offices.
  • Are eligible for a tax deduction for this charitable contribution.

Funds from Trimmer Fellows are used to:

  • Provide Presidential Scholarships of $1,000-$2,000 to students enrolled in two- or four-year construction degree programs.
  • Present an annual John P. Trimmer Award for Excellence in Teaching to a college or university faculty member in the field of construction education who supports the merit shop philosophy.
  • Provide ABC chapters with grants to assist with local initiatives in education and workforce development.
