TRIMMER FELLOWS

The John P. Trimmer Fellowship Program was created to show appreciation for John Trimmer's lifelong commitment to the merit shop and his efforts to provide educational opportunities to those in the construction industry.  Trimmer (now deceased) was the first executive vice president of ABC 50 years ago and was very active in promoting the merit shop philosophy.

A Trimmer Fellow is:

  • An employee or family member of an ABC member company or an ABC staff member.
  • A contributor of $1,000 or more to the program through the Construction Education Foundation.
  • Acknowledged with a plaque denoting status as a Trimmer Fellow.
  • Recognized in related ABC publications and events.
  • Eligible for a tax deduction for his/her charitable contribution.

Funds from Trimmer Fellows are used to:

  • Award scholarships to students enrolled in two- or four-year construction degree programs.
  • Present the annual John Trimmer Excellence in Teaching Award to a college or university faculty member in the field of construction education who supports the merit shop philosophy.
  • Provide ABC chapters with grants to assist with local initiatives in education and workforce development.
