The Grassroots Self-Audit and Awards Program for ABC Chapters recognizes chapters at one of three levels-Gold, Silver and Bronze-for outstanding grassroots performance. This program will provide a self-evaluation tool to help chapters continue to improve their grassroots activities.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze levels of achievement are based on a point system for grassroots actions and policies the chapter has in place. Performance is measured through a chapter self-audit similar to the ABC Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Program. The awards will be handed out at the 2011 Legislative Conference.
Each chapter’s performance is based on six grassroots activities:
-Does the chapter have a standing Grassroots committee?
-Does the chapter have Grassroots subcommittees?
-Does the chapter have a Grassroots taskforce?
-Is there a link to the ABC National grassroots/government affairs webpages on the chapter’s website?
-Does the chapter dedicate a portion of their website to grassroots?
-Does the chapter provide grassroots resources on its website?
-Does the chapter run/re-publish articles provided by ABC on grassroots or specific federal issues?
-Does the chapter run articles on government affairs/member political involvement regularly?
-Did the chapter increase the number of people who “took action”? (quarterly reports will be emailed out)
-Did the chapter increase the number of people receiving alerts?
-Has the chapter identified a Staff member or members to be responsible for grassroots activities?
-Does the chapter employ a state/local lobbyist?
-Did the chapter participate in a State Legislative/Capitol day?
-Did members of the chapter testifying at public hearings?
-Did the chapter and member participate in in-district meetings with members of Congress?
