Webinar Description:

During the last several months, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) have proposed pro-union rules that will affect every ABC member, along with millions of other employers, by creating new burdens on unprepared businesses and hurting job growth.  In January 2012, President Barack Obama brazenly ignored constitutionally established separation of powers, as well as the rules of the U.S. Senate, by appointing three new members to the NLRB. The appointments are evidence the Board will continue to operate uninterrupted in its pursuit of silencing the voices of employers in the workplace. ABC General Counsel Maury Baskin will update ABC members on the status of NLRB and USDOL issued rules, President Obama’s recess appointments, and the resulting legal challenges:

  • The NLRB’s final rule requiring employers to display an 11-by-17-inch poster in their workplace that contains a biased and incomplete list of employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act (effective April 30).
  • The NLRB’s final rule that limits employer rights during a union election (effective April 30).
  • The legal challenges filed by an ABC-led coalition against the NLRB rules and the president’s recess appointments.
  • The USDOL’s plan to completely overhaul the so-called “persuader” reporting requirements, which will make it harder for employers to get much-needed labor relations advice from chapters, lawyers and others.
  • The NLRB’s activist agenda for 2012 and other Obama administration issued rules that will impact the construction industry.

These rules are extremely important and affect all ABC chapters and their members. Don’t miss this webinar!
