This Webinar is Designed to:
- Provide an overview of the International Green Construction Code (IgCC)
- Provide information on where the code is being adopted and what it means for contractors
- Help contractors understand the legal issues related to green building codes
Webinar Description
Contractors have long dealt with building codes and learned to efficiently deliver projects in compliance with those code requirements. In recent years, contractors have also learned to work with projects that incorporate goals for sustainability, including certification under green building rating systems such as LEED®. Now, those two worlds—building codes and sustainable project goals—have come together in the form of the forthcoming International Green Construction Code (IgCC).
In March 2012, the International Code Council is scheduled to launch its 2012 International Green Construction Code (IgCC). The development of this new code has the construction industry asking many questions about its impact on the industry. This webinar will provide an overview of the IgCC, from the contractor’s perspective, including discussion of (1) how the IgCC fits into the existing world of green building legislation and certification/rating systems; (2) an overview of the IgCC in its current form; (3) what types of projects the IgCC is designed to apply to; (4) how the IgCC compares/contrasts with LEED; (5) how state and local jurisdictions may adopt and apply the IgCC; and (6) legal and contractual issues contractors should consider in order to be prepared for the IgCC.
