Health Care Law Employer Reporting Required On 2012 W-2 Forms

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act requires employers that issue more than 250 W-2 forms to report the cost of health care coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan on each employee’s 2012 W-2 form, which generally are required to be provided to employees in January 2013.

Congressional Republicans File Briefs Against NLRB Recess Appointments

On Sept. 26, 42 Republican Senators and U.S. House of RepresentativesSpeaker John Boehner filed amicus briefs in the a U.S. Court of Appeals arguing that President Obama’s January recess appointments of three members to the NLRB were unconstitutional. Read the rest of entry »

DOL Issues Bid Solicitation on New Hampshire Project Without PLA Mandate

Last week, the DOL issued a solicitation for construction services on its estimated $20 million to $50 million Job Corps Center in Manchester, N.H., without a discriminatory and costly PLA mandate or preference. Funding Resolution Signed That Includes DOL Restrictions On H-2B And MSD Rules

President Obama Sept. 28 signed into law a continuing appropriation resolution (H.J. Res. 117) that will fund the Department of Labor (DOL), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Equal Opportunity Commission for the first six months of fiscal year 2013, but that also includes restrictions on actions by DOL. Coalition Submits Letter On Implementation Of The Health Care Law

As part of the Employers for Flexibility in Health Care (EFHC) coalition, ABC Sept. 27 submitted comments regarding implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) – specifically, on determining full-time employee status and the application of the 90-day waiting period limitation. House Judiciary Committee Hearing Addresses Regulatory Reform

In response to a U.S. House of Representatives’ Judiciary Committee hearing titled, “Regulation Nation: The Obama Administration’s Regulatory Expansion vs. Jobs and Economic Recovery,” ABC Sept. 20 called for comprehensive regulatory reform and offered its support for a series of bills that will help achieve that goal. ABC Requests Feedback On E-Verify Changes
