ABC recognized the country’s top construction projects as well as leading company-wide safety and diversity programs at the 26th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards gala March 2 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

A total of 105 projects collectively worth $2.8 billion earned Excellence in Construction awards in the industry’s leading competition, developed to honor both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. A full list of winners is available on ABC’s website.

National Safety Excellence Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold status in ABC's Safety Training Evaluation Process in 2015. During the selection process, they were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable rates, leading indicator use, process and program innovations and video interviews conducted by members of ABC’s National Environment, Health & Safety Committee. A list of the 41 award-winning companies  is available on ABC’s website.

ABC’s National Diversity Excellence Awards were presented to Hensel Phelps, Greeley, Colo.; Wu & Associates Inc., Mount Laurel, N.J.; Mechanical Engineering & Construction Corp., Catonsville, Md.; and United Rentals Inc., Stamford, Conn. The award recognizes members that display exemplary diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices, and training and mentoring programs.
