The National Craft Championships (NCC) Intent to Compete deadline is fast approaching. House Passes ABC-supported Job Training Reform Bill

The U.S. House of Representatives March 15 voted 215-202 to pass the Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act (H.R. 803), which will strengthen the workforce development system and increase employment opportunities by creating a more streamlined approach that focuses on businesses’ hiring and training needs.

ABC and Construction Groups Advocate for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

ABC, in conjunction with four other construction groups, advocated for a reasonable and balanced approach to comprehensive immigration reform in a Feb. 22 letter sent to the “Gang of Eight,” a bipartisan group of Senators working on the same issue. The letterwas signed by ABC, Associated General Contractors, Leading Builders of America, National Association of Home Builders and National Roofing Contractors Association.

As a part of the Build Your Future Careers in Construction Week, ABC chapters and members supported two construction career events in Texas to encourage students to explore opportunities in construction careers.

The National Craft Championships Is Looking For ABC's Best Craft Trainees

ABC members and chapters a can send their best craft trainees to compete in the 2013 National Craft Championships (NCC), to be held April 30-May 3 in Birmingham, Ala. During this intense two-day event, young men and women compete in one of 13 competitions, representing 11 crafts. 

Nail Gun Safety Guide Offered In Spanish

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced the addition of a Spanish language version of “Nail Gun Safety: A Guide for Construction Contractors.”
