Construction Unemployment Rates Improve in 32 States Year-Over-Year, ABC Says

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 31—September not seasonally adjusted (NSA) construction unemployment rates improved in 32 states and the nation on a year-over-year basis, according to analysis released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Associated Builders and Contractors Applauds Court’s Injunction Against ‘Blacklisting’ Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 25– Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today applauded a preliminary injunction against the Obama administration’s Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces final rule, commonly referred to as “blacklisting,” issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas late Monday night. Associated Builders and Contractors Files Suit Against ‘Blacklisting’ Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 7– Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and its ABC Southeast Texas Chapter announced today that they have filed a lawsuit challenging the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces final rule, commonly referred to as the “blacklisting” rule, which was released Aug. 25, 2016. The legal challenge was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division, by the Texas office of Littler Mendelson, P.C., ABC National’s general counsel. The firm will represent ABC, the ABC Southeast Texas Chapter and the National Association of Security Companies (NASCO) in the lawsuit. Read the rest of entry »

Associated Builders and Contractors Applauds Passage of House Bill to Delay Overtime Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 29–Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives passage of legislation that would delay implementation of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division’s costly and burdensome final overtime rule. The bill, the Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools, and Nonprofits Act (H.R. 6094), passed the House with bipartisan support by a vote of 246-177 on Sept. 28. Read the rest of entry »

Construction Unemployment Rates Improve in 48 States in August

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 29— August not seasonally adjusted (NSA) construction unemployment rates improved in 48 states and the nation on a year-over-year basis, according to an analysis released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The national NSA construction unemployment rate of 5.1 percent was 1 percent lower than a year ago, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), producing the lowest August construction unemployment rate on record. Associated Builders and Contractors: 'Blacklisting' Final Rule Hurts Contractors, Employees and Taxpayers

WASHINGTON, D.C., Aug. 24 – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) slammed the flawed Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces final rule, commonly referred to as “blacklisting,” released today by the Federal Acquisition Regulatory (FAR) Council. The rule, which was accompanied by a guidance document from the U.S. Department of Labor and a White House amendment to Executive Order 13673, will increase costs to taxpayers, threaten the livelihood of millions of Americans who work for responsible federal contractors and cripple the federal procurement process with needless uncertainty, delays, and litigation.  Read the rest of entry »
