ABC Asks EPA to Withdraw its “Waters of the U.S.” Proposal

Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and more than 50 ABC chapters this week filed comments to voice deep concern over the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ proposed “Waters of the U.S.” rule. ABC also filed additional comments with a group of 374 trade associations led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Waters Advocacy Coalition (WAC). Read the rest of entry »

George Nash Elected ABC Mid-Atlantic Region Vice Chair

Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced that George R. Nash, Jr., Facchina Construction Co., Inc., La Plata, Md., was elected to serve as ABC’s Mid-Atlantic Region vice chair in 2015. Nash also currently serves as the chair of ABC’s national Political Action Committee and has more than 10 years of service at the chapter level, including serving as a mentor and advisor for ABC Metro Washington’s Leadership Development Program and as the chair of the ABC Metro Washington Chapter in 2010. Facchina has received recognition in ABC’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) and has won multiple ABC Excellence in Construction Awards. Read the rest of entry »

Pamela Volm Named ABC 2015 National Chair

Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced that Pamela Volm, president of Annapolis Contracting Inc. in Annapolis, Md., has been elected to serve as ABC’s 2015 national chair. Volm has previously served on ABC’s executive committee as Mid-Atlantic region vice chair from Jan. 2011 to Dec. 2013 and on ABC’s national board of directors from 2001-2006. She has also served in a leadership role at the chapter level with ABC’s Chesapeake Shores Chapter. Read the rest of entry »

ABC Announces Changes to Executive Committee in 2015

Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced that Pamela Volm, president of Annapolis Contracting Inc. in Annapolis, Md., has been elected to serve as ABC’s 2015 national chair and David Chapin of Willmar Electric Service in Lincoln, Neb., was elected to serve as ABC’s 2015 chair-elect. In addition, Chuck Goodrich, Gaylor Electric, Inc., Noblesville, Ind., was elected to serve as the new secretary in addition to his role as the Mid-America Region vice chair, and George R. Nash, Jr., Facchina Construction Co., Inc., La Plata, Md., was elected Mid-Atlantic Region vice chair. Read the rest of entry »

ABC Asks President to Withdraw “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces” Executive Order

Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), along with 19 other business trade groups, requested that President Obama withdraw the “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces” Executive Order (E.O. 13673) in a letter addressed to U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Secretary Thomas Perez and Assistant to the President and Director of the Domestic Policy Council Cecilia Muñoz.
