Craft Professional of the Year Awarded to Stronghold Engineering’s Robert Stuart

The 2014 Craft Professional of the Year award was presented to Robert Stuart, superintendent at Stronghold Engineering in Menifee, Calif., May 2 during ABC’s National Craft Championships and Workforce Development Conference in Birmingham, Ala. Montgomery College Wins 2014 Student Chapter of the Year Award

The ABC student chapter at Montgomery College, Rockville, Md., was named the 2014 Student Chapter of the Year, which recognized them for their outstanding and extensive programming, community service and involvement with ABC during the past year. Craft Instructor of the Year Award Goes to North Carolina Electrician

ABC awarded Lloyd Evans, hiring and training administrator for Watson Electrical Construction Co. LLC, Wilson, N.C., as its 2014 Craft Instructor of the Year. Evans will be honored during ABC’s Workforce Development Conference May 2 in Birmingham, Ala.

Learning, Networking and Celebrating During ABC’s Merit Week

More than 800 attendees participated in Merit Week Feb. 11-12 in Maui, Hawaii, where they took advantage of learning and networking at ABC’s BizCon and Merit Canada’s International Open Shop Conference, and celebrated the achievements of the winners during the Excellence in Construction Awards. Seven ABC member companies, representing 20 chapters, were ranked in Fortune Magazine’s annual “Top 100 Companies to Work For” list. They include: Edward Jones, DPR Construction, Plante Moran, Baker Donelson, PCL Construction, Ernst & Young, TDIndustries and Kiewit Corporation.

ABC Feb. 11 congratulated the winners of the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards– the industry’s leading competition, where the top construction projects and the firms that displayed exemplary commitment to safety and diversity in 2013 were recognized during the awards celebration at the Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii.

ABC Accepting Craft Professional and Instructor of the Year Award Nominations

ABC chapters and members can honor a Craft Professional or Craft Instructor by submitting a nomination for the 2014 Craft Professional of the Year (CPOY) and Craft Instructor of the Year (CIOY) Awards by March 7. The CPOY winner will receive a brand-new truck and the CIOY winner will receive a cash prize May 2 at ABC’s Careers in Construction Awards Ceremony.

Nominate an Employee for Craft Professional of the Year

ABC is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Craft Professional of the Year Award (CPOY) which honors an individual who exhibits outstanding skills and leadership and demonstrates a passion for their job in the field and giving back to the community. The winner will receive a brand new truck and a feature article in Construction Executive highlighting their hard work and dedication to the industry.
