To compete in the 2014 National Craft Championships, craft trainees must meet certain requirements. To ensure eligibility, ABC member companies and chapters should verify that their trainees:
  • are actively enrolled in and sponsored by an ABC chapter, ABC member firm (in-house) or ABC “chapter-approved” training sponsor program within nine months prior to the National Craft Championships;
  • are not certified as a journeyman more than six months prior to the date of the National Craft Championships;
  • possess no more than six years total experience in the competition he or she enters (not including secondary school programs);
  • did not compete within the same craft competition in any previous ABC National Craft Championships; and
  • are approved to compete by the National Craft Championships Committee if the craft training student has not previously been employed or is not currently employed by a construction-related firm.
If an ABC member or chapter knows of a craft trainee they want to send to the competition, they should read the complete list of eligibility requirements. Sponsoring companies or chapters can then submit an intent to compete form and read the full competition guidebook.
