KARL ROVE TO SPEAK AT ABC’S 2008 LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE (04/16/2008)
Williams Scotsman Karl Rove, who served as deputy chief of staff for President Bush from 2001 to 2007, will provide ABC members with an insider’s view of the current political climate for business and the construction industry during the opening general session at ABC’s 2008 Legislative Conference to be held June 17-19 in Washington, D.C.

During his time in the White House, Rove headed the Office of Political Affairs, Office of Public Liaison and the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives.  Since his August 2007 resignation from the Bush administration, Rove has become a political analyst to Fox News and a contributing writer to Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal.

Following Rove’s address, Legislative Conference participants will have the opportunity to meet with members of Congress to discuss important legislative issues that impact their businesses, including “card check” elections, union-only project labor agreements and expansion of the Davis-Bacon Act. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with Bush administration officials and top officials at the nation’s federal agencies to ensure that the voice of the merit shop construction industry is heard on important policy decisions.

The Legislative Conference will be held at the Hilton Washington.  Single and double occupancy rooms are available for a discounted rate of $239 if ABC is mentioned when making reservations. This special rate ends May 16 but is not guaranteed after the room block sells out.
