DOL PUBLISHES WEATHERIZATION PREVAILING WAGE RATES (09/23/2009)
CLP Resources The prevailing wage rates for residential weatherization work performed on existing structures are now available online from the Department of Labor (DOL).  To see the prevailing wage rates for each state, click here.

The rates were determined by the responses to two prevailing wage surveys issued by the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division and passed on to ABC members in July.

Weatherization work is defined as duct work; air sealing; insulation installation; ventilation work; minor or incidental structural repairs; solar film installation, caulking, weather stripping or replacement of windows and doors; minor repairs to air conditioning, heating, or hot water systems; HVAC work; electrical work; and plumbing work.  In addition, to qualify, all work must be performed on existing residential structures.

In order for prevailing wage rates to accurately reflect the market rate in each state, ABC members should participate on any prevailing wage surveys for which they qualify.  To facilitate this, ABC is continuing its efforts to inform chapters when surveys are announced, and to change the current methodology for prevailing wage surveys to make it easier for members, and merit shop contractors in general, to participate.
