ABC CHAPTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN GREEN TRAINING FUNDED BY ARRA GRANTS (01/27/2010)
CLP Resources The U.S. Department of Labor Jan. 20 announced which states received American Recovery and Reinvestment Act green training grants and who the key partners for each grant would be, including ABC Nevada, Chesapeake Shores and Hawaii Chapters.

The ABC Nevada Chapter and other organizations will be a part of the Nevada State Energy Sector Partnership and will teach eligible participants the skills required to work in emerging industries, including the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy.  Comprehensive training will be provided through the state’s system of higher education and almost 6,300 workers are expected to complete the training.

The Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations will partner with the Hawaii Chapter and others to focus on developing green industries in the state and providing incumbent workers with green skills.  One-Stop Career Centers will provide services to dislocated workers and veterans.  Approximately 1,400 participants are expected to complete the process and receive certificates or licenses in green occupations.

The “Smart, Green and Growing” program in Maryland with the help of many groups including the Chesapeake Shore Chapter, will develop and expand green construction training options by providing training for a wide range of construction-related trades and green building.  Approximately 1,600 participants are expected to be trained and placed in green jobs.
