STEP APPLICATIONS SET TO ARRIVE AT MEMBER COMPANIES BY JAN. 3 (12/16/2010)
CLP Resources The 2011 Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) application will be mailed to all ABC chapters and contractor members beginning Dec. 17, 2010 and should arrive before Jan. 3, 2011.  The applications also will be available for download and submission online at www.abc.org/step.

Beginning in 2011, ABC is implementing a chapter deadline system.  Applicants may still turn in their STEP applications at any time during the year for consideration for a STEP award, but in order to be recognized by their chapter at an awards ceremony, members must have their application in by the deadline established by their chapter.  The Chapter Deadline Table is available in the 2011 application and contains due dates for each chapter.

STEP qualifying criteria will be the same in 2011 as in 2010. STEP Bronze and Silver applicants must meet appropriate minimum scores on the 20 Key Components self-evaluation, while STEP Gold applicants must continue to have an Incidence Rate less than 1.5 times the national Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) average for their North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code (as listed in the 2011 STEP application).  STEP Platinum applicants must maintain an Incidence Rate at least 25 percent below the national BLS average for their NAICS code in addition to meeting Experience Modification Rate requirements of a 0.800 maximum for companies with more than 100 employees, and a 0.900 maximum for companies with fewer than 100 employees.
