Jed Dean of Skanska USA Building, Inc., Tampa, Fla., was named ABC’s 2009 Beam Club Member of the Year during the association’s 2010 National Convention in San Diego. ABC presents the award each year to the individual who is considered the top membership recruiter.
Since joining ABC in 1996, Dean has recruited 132 members including 49 last year, 65 in 2008 and 14 in 2007 – making him ABC’s Beam Club Member of the Year for three years running. Dean, a former chairman of the Florida Gulf Coast chapter’s board of directors, frequently travels throughout the chapter’s service area, acting as a “goodwill ambassador,” interacting with both ABC members and prospective members.
Dean was selected from a field of seven regional Beam Club Member of the Year winners including:
Region 1: Sid Slatter, Slatter Construction, Inc., Golden Gate Chapter
Region 2: Mike McCoy, ACI Mechanical, Inc., Iowa Chapter
Region 3: Terry Buza, Cajun Constructors, Inc., Greater Houston Chapter
Region 5: Scott Vossler, Foulger-Pratt Contracting, LLC, Metro Washington Chapter
Region 6: Alan Ross, Ross, Brittain & Schonberg Co., L.P.A., Northern Ohio Chapter
Region 7: Robert A. Glancy, III, R.A. Glancy & Sons, Inc., Western Pennsylvania Chapter
The Beam Club was established in 1966 to recognize ABC’s top membership recruiters for their commitment to growing the association. By recruiting five new members, ABC members are automatically enrolled in the Beam Club by their chapter. Members receive one point for each new member recruited. Beam Club activity is ongoing from year to year, with members’ point totals continually accruing and advancing members to the next Beam Club award level.
