ABC Feb. 22 recognized the nation’s top 2010 construction projects during its Excellence in Construction and National Safety Excellence awards celebration held at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando, Fla.  

“ABC is proud to award these great projects with the top Excellence in Construction award for their professionalism and innovation,” said Michael D. Bellaman, ABC president and CEO. “All members of the teams who worked on this year’s winners once again took exceptional craftsmanship and safety to the next level to create industry-leading projects that truly represent the spirit of merit shop construction.”

The Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry’s leading competition, developed to honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects and safety programs. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost.  

A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year's panel included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Association of Women in Construction, and representatives from higher education, among others.
