The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) June 10 issued a survey requesting information from the construction industry on the potential use of project labor agreements (PLAs) on the $25 million to $100 million
B603 Saufley Field, Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. In addition, the United States Army Corps of Engineers also issued PLA surveys for
Joint Base, San Antonio, Texas, and for a project to build a new
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pa.
All ABC members and construction professionals are encouraged to respond to the requests for information and tell the NAVFAC and USACE that government-mandated PLAs harm competition, increase costs, and impede economy and efficiency in government contracting.
NAVFAC surveys should be submitted to
william.mcgrattan@navy.mil by close of business June 17. USACE surveys for Joint Base in San Antonio, Texas should be submitted to
james.bales@usace.army.mil by close of business June 17, and surveys for the DLA Headquarters in Pennsylvania should be submitted to
gary.faykes@usace.army.mil no later than 2 p.m. (ET), June 24.
During the past several months, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued several similar surveys requesting information about the potential use of PLAs on construction projects in districts nationwide. ABC has taken the opportunity to respond to all PLA surveys as they are issued, including a recent survey issued by the USACE for
Santa Ana River Mainstem, Lower Santa Ana River Channel, Reach 9-Phase 2, Riverside County, Calif., and a recent survey for a
dormitory complex with a connecting conference center at Harpers Ferry, W.Va. ABC encourages its members to do the same.
