Russell Hamley, president of ABC’s Greater Houston chapter, May 12 became the new mayor of Jersey Village, Texas, when he defeated longtime city council member Joyce Berube. Jersey Village is a northwest suburb of Houston.
“ABC congratulates Russell on becoming the mayor of Jersey Village,” said Kirk Pickerel, ABC president and CEO. “Russell is a great advocate for ABC members and merit shop contractors in the greater Houston area. The people of Jersey Village have selected a very skilled and experienced leader as their new mayor.”
Hamley served on the Jersey Village City Council for six years, serving in the Position 2 seat from 2000 to 2002 and the Position 4 seat from 2002 to 2006. In 2005, Hamley lost his race against former Jersey Village Mayor Ed Heathcott.
