Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced that Jerry Gorski, president of Gorski Engineering, Inc., Collegeville, Pa., and a member of ABC’s Southeast Pennsylvania and Eastern Pennsylvania chapters, has assumed the duties of 2009 ABC national chairman. He was elected to that position Nov. 11 at the ABC Board of Directors meeting in Long Beach, Calif. He will officially be sworn into office Feb. 25 at the ABC National Board of Directors meeting during the 2009 ABC National Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.
As national chairman, Gorski leads ABC’s executive committee and its more than 200-member board of directors, guides the association’s national initiatives and serves as its spokesperson.
“Jerry Gorski has been an active, involved member of this association for more than 20 years, and his passion for ABC, and for the betterment of entire merit shop construction industry make him an excellent chairman,” said Kirk Pickerel, ABC president and CEO. “We look forward to his experience and leadership as he represents ABC and its 25,000 members nationwide.”
Gorski previously served as ABC’s Region 7 vice chairman representing members and chapters in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. He was also chairman and a member of ABC’s Business Development Committee. Gorski spent two years as chairman of the Member Services Coordinating Committee and served as chairman of the board of directors of the for-profit ABC Services Corp.
At the chapter level, Gorski was chairman of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter in 1996 and has more than 10 years of service on the chapter’s board of directors. He also has served as chairman of chapter committees on membership, nominations and member involvement.
Gorski is a 1982 Presidential Scholar graduate of Clarkson University (Potsdam, N.Y.) where he was inducted into two engineering honor societies.
