Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today honored Brett McMahon, vice president of business development for Miller & Long Concrete Construction, Bethesda, Md., with its Merit Shop Political Leadership award. McMahon is the first person to receive this prestigious honor.
“Brett has never shied away from being on the frontline of any issue important to ABC members. He is one of the most fervent, steadfast and knowledgeable people about the merit shop construction industry,” said 2010 ABC National Chairman Jim Elmer, founder and president of James W. Elmer Construction Co., Spokane, Wash.“Among his many strengths is the ability to communicate – using both traditional and new media – the issues that are critically important to the nation’s construction industry.”
McMahon is a member of ABC’s national Government Affairs Coordinating Committee, Legislative Committee and the Free Enterprise Alliance. In 2005, he won ABC’s Grassroots Member of the Year award for his dedication to ABC and the merit shop construction industry, as well as his unwavering commitment to politics at the grassroots level.
“We are proud to honor Brett with ABC’s Merit Shop Political Leadership award,” said Elmer. “His commitment to the merit shop construction industry will serve as an inspiration to others who believe in free enterprise and the principle of open and fair competition.”
