Sending letters to Congress and other government agencies allows ABC to publically advocate the views and interests of our members. These letters are welcomed and often sought because of the respected and influential voice of ABC Government Affairs.

On April 10, ABC sent a letter to the U.S. Senate supporting the confirmation of John Ring to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). ABC counted the confirmation vote as a key vote for the 115th congressional scorecard.

On March 7, 2018, ABC, as part of the Prior Approval Reform Coalition (PARC), sent a letter to House and Senate appropriators to include language in the omnibus spending bill that defunds the enforcement of the “prior authorization” requirement for trade association political action committees (PACs).

On Nov. 6, ABC sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives urging them to vote YES on H.R. 3441, the Save Local Business Act. Introduced by Representative Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.), H.R. 3441 will restore the “joint employer” standard that has been in place for over 30 years and bring stability back into the economy for contractors and subcontractors across the country. ABC considered this a Key Vote for the 115th Congressional Scorecard.

On Feb. 12, ABC joined the Essential Worker Immigration Coalition (EWIC) in a letter to congressional leadership, expressing concerns regarding President Trump’s framework and the reduction in legal immigration that could affect the construction workforce.
