"The Value of STEP" - 2010 Analysis
Developed by ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee 2009 Chair Craig Shaffer, CSP (SafetyWorks, Inc.; Dillsburg, PA), these presentations use Bureau of Labor Statistics (
www.bls.gov) construction industry safety statistics to compare the safety data of STEP participants vs. the construction industry overall. Chapters can use this information to show how Incidence Rates, EMRs and Workers' Comp insurance costs are significantly lower for those ABC members who participate in STEP compared to national averages. Members will find side-by-side comparisons of STEP vs. industry averages in each North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes.
