ABC's Construction Management Competition (CMC) is a hallmark competition that promotes careers in construction management. The competition is sponsored in part by the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation (TCEF), and ABC members. In addition to providing a significant learning opportunity, the competition fosters an environment that will bring out the best in each team; encourage dialogue among the students; and foster the team spirit as students rise to meet this challenge. The Construction Management Competition is designed to challenge construction knowledge, organization, time management, and presentation skills. Come prepared to have fun, challenge other students, and demonstrate your ability to think on your feet.
2013 Competition:
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) will host the Construction Management Competition (CMC) and Career Fair twice in 2013. The Construction Management Competition features teams of four college and university students testing their project management, estimating and presentation skills.
The CMC Committee, students and advisors were polled to determine the feasibility of moving the CMC and Career Fair to the fall to better place students in jobs and internships for the upcoming year. During the polling process, ABC determined that there was a need to run the program twice in 2013 to ensure that graduating students and alternates would not be disenfranchised during the transition. After 2013, the CMC and Career Fair will only be held once in the fall of 2014.
The 2013 spring CMC and career fair was held during the 21st Century Workforce Development Conference, in Birmingham, Ala., April 29-May 3, 2013.
The 2013 fall CMC and career fair will be held during ABC's Institute for Professional Development and Leadership, in Las Vegas, NV, November 3-6, 2013. The career fair is being held following the completion of the CMC and awards ceremony.
