PURPOSE

As second-in-command to the President & CEO, the Vice President plays a critical leadership role in managing the daily operations of ABC Central Florida. This position ensures alignment between organizational strategy and execution, providing operational oversight across departments and championing excellence, accountability, and culture. The Vice President acts as a trusted partner to the CEO and is empowered to lead in their absence, drive cross-functional performance, and uphold the chapter’s mission to serve the merit shop construction industry.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO in defining and executing the organization's strategic vision and operational plan.
  • Translate strategic objectives into measurable departmental goals and initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of annual operations planning, including goal setting, performance tracking, and cross-functional alignment.

Operational Oversight

  • Direct and monitor daily operations across departments: membership, events, marketing, finance, education, facilities, and government affairs.
  • Establish and evaluate performance metrics; use data to drive improvements and inform decision-making.
  • Foster a results-driven, collaborative, and member-focused culture.

People & Culture

  • Oversee staff performance, development, and retention strategies.
  • Support department leads in coaching and performance management.
  • Cultivate a workplace culture that reflects ABC values of integrity, innovation, and service.
  • Champion professional development opportunities and succession planning.

Compliance & Financial Stewardship

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor budgets and financial targets in partnership with the Finance Manager and CEO.
  • Serve as staff liaison to key committees including Finance and Nominating.

Member & Partner Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, partners, industry stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and purpose at events and functions.
  • Support the CEO in fundraising, sponsorship, and external engagement efforts.

FUNCTIONAL AREAS OF OVERSIGHT

Chapter Operations

  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain awareness of association trends and technological tools to enhance member services.
  • Oversee chapter database accuracy and performance.

Workforce & Education Programs

  • Support implementation of workforce initiatives and apprenticeship programs.
  • Ensure educational programs align with industry needs and member expectations.

Building Management

  • Oversee maintenance, safety, compliance, and tenant relations for ABC’s physical facilities.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to maintain high standards.

Special Projects

  • Lead planning and execution of the ABC of Florida State Convention and Planning Conference.
  • Take ownership of organizational initiatives as assigned by the CEO or Board.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in non-profit, membership, or trade association environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or CAE designation preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, develop strategy, and oversee operational functions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and/or the merit shop philosophy is a plus.
