Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced the winners of its 12th annual Student Chapter Construction Management Competition during the 2012 ABC EdCon and Expo, April 24-27 in San Antonio. Teams of students from 25 colleges and universities across the nation competed for more than $6,000 in cash and prizes, as well as the coveted “Construction Management Champions” title.
“This competition gives the nation’s top construction management students a glimpse into the real world of construction, as well as an opportunity to showcase their talents,” said 2012 ABC National Chairman Eric G. Regelin, president of Granix, LLC, Ellicott City, Md. “The students’ dedication and determination throughout the competition was an inspiration to all.”
Students went head to head in three areas: project management/scheduling, estimating and safety. Awards were given in each area, along with an overall award for the highest total points.
The 2012 Student Chapter Construction Management Competition winners are:
Construction Management Champions (team with highest overall points)
First Place: Florida International University
Second Place: Pennsylvania College of Technology
Third Place: University of Florida
Fourth Place: California State University, Long Beach
Fifth Place: University of Northern Iowa
Estimating
First Place: University of Cincinnati
Second Place: California State University, Long Beach
Third Place: University of Northern Iowa
Project Management
First Place: Auburn University
Second Place: Pennsylvania College of Technology
Third Place: Clemson University
Safety
First Place: University of Northern Iowa
Second Place: Florida International University
Third Place: Pennsylvania College of Technology
