ABC Announces 2019 National Diversity Excellence Award Winners

WASHINGTON, April 6—Associated Builders and Contractors has named the winners of the 2019 National Diversity Excellence Awards, an annual recognition of ABC members that display exemplary diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices and education and mentoring programs. The winners will be honored at the 30th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards at ABC Convention 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee, on Aug. 18.

“This year’s National Diversity Excellence Awards winners show an unmatched commitment to a diverse and inclusive construction industry, which generates new ideas and drives innovation,” said 2020 ABC National Chair Tim Keating, owner and president of R.C. Stevens Construction Co., Winter Garden, Florida. “These industry leaders are showing the construction industry how to best meet the needs of a 21st century workforce and attract people typically underrepresented in our industry.”

Awards were presented in three categories:

General Contractor: Austin Commercial, Dallas
Subcontractor: Allied Mechanical Services, Kalamazoo, Michigan
Supplier: United Rentals, Stamford, Connecticut

Award winners were selected by a panel of industry partner associations that share ABC’s strategic goal to continually grow and deliver value to a diverse and inclusive workforce. ABC’s Diversity Committee—formed to better reach underrepresented communities within the constructions sector—provides leadership and direction to chapters and member companies to promote diversity as an empowering competitive advantage through education, awareness and business practices.

United Rentals Inc., the world’s largest equipment rental company, sponsors ABC’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, including the Diversity & Inclusion Summit and National Diversity Excellence Awards.
