On Sept. 30, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage and Hour Division issued a final rule to implement President Obama’s Executive Order 13706, Establishing Paid Sick Leave for Federal Contractors, which requires certain federal contractors to offer employees up to seven days (56 hours) of paid sick leave annually, including paid leave for family care. The final rule went into effect on Jan. 1, 2017, and applies to new contracts and replacements for expiring contracts with the Federal Government that result from solicitations issued on or after Jan. 1, 2017 (or that are awarded outside the solicitation process on or after Jan. 1, 2017). 

William Brooks and Bill Isokait from DOL’s Wage and Hour Division will provide training on the final rule’s requirements to assist federal contractors with compliance.
