Charles "Chuck" Lavin Jr., one of the founders of the ABC Yankee Chapter, passed away April 19 after a long illness. Lavin was born in Baltimore, Md., in 1940, and served as the first executive director of the ABC Yankee Chapter, which encompassed the six New England states, from its inception in 1968 until 1980.

“Chuck’s passing is a serious loss for ABC,” said ABC President and CEO Mike Bellaman. “His dedication and passion were instrumental in bringing ABC to the New England states and all of those members will continue to benefit from his legacy.”

In addition to ABC, Lavin was involved in other national trade associations, including the American Subcontractors Association and the National Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors.  He took an appointment in the Reagan Administration at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and served with the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps in Germany.

After retirement, Lavin was active in various social organizations, serving as Post Commander of American Legion Post 60, president of the West Laurel Recreation Council, and president of the Antonio Gatto Sons of Italy Lodge.
