ABC congratulated the winners of the 25th annual Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards, including Contractor of the Year Brasfield & Gorrie, March 5 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“Brasfield & Gorrie’s dedication to workforce development, safety and producing the highest quality construction projects is a tremendous example of all that the merit shop philosophy stands for,” said 2015 ABC National Chair Pamela Volm, president of Annapolis Contracting, Inc., Annapolis, Md. “Brasfield & Gorrie has been recognized throughout the industry for their commitment to green building, innovation and continually developing industry best practices and we are very happy to honor them with ABC’s highest award.

Brasfield & Gorie’s national EIC awards included five Eagle awards, including two projects that also won Productivity awards and one project that won Greener Tomorrow and Design-Build awards, and three Pyramid awards.

The Excellence in Construction, National Safety Excellence and National Diversity Excellence awards were given to top construction projects and firms that displayed exemplary commitment to safety and diversity in 2014.

“Each year we are honored to recognize the very best construction projects the industry has to offer and this year’s winners’ commitment to quality and safety throughout the planning, execution and delivery of each of these projects is truly remarkable,” said Volm. “These projects, the contractors who carried them out and their employees are a perfect embodiment of ABC’s value proposition: to help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically, profitably and for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.”

The 2014 National Safety Excellence Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Diamond, Platinum and Gold status in ABC's Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) and were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable rates, use of leading indicators, innovation in processes and training and interviews conducted by members of ABC’s National Environment, Health & Safety Committee.

The National Diversity Excellence Awards winners were selected for diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices, and training and mentoring programs.
