This basic introduction to lean principals and cultures will help you better understand where the principals originated and how they can be implemented in any industry. We want to share our reasoning for promoting the incorporation of lean principals and lean culture in the construction market. Proven to effectively reduce waste and cut costs, we have provided a brief outline of tools being implemented by Suffolk Construction allowing us to build smarter every day.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
As Vice President for Suffolk Construction, John Planz oversees the Mall at Miami Worldcenter and All Aboard Florida’s MiamiCentral projects. He also directs project teams, assesses ongoing preconstruction and construction progress, and aligns the company’s expertise with client needs in order to ensure overall success.
Prior to his role as Vice President, Planz served as a Project Executive, overseeing a range of projects including the award-winning Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, Atlantech Plaza, and the Cosmopolitan in Miami Beach. Planz’s extensive industry experience includes his early work as an electrical contractor with a large national firm focused on industrial and institutional facilities. Rising through the estimating and project management ranks he became a Division Manager for Tri-City Electrical Contractors, successfully opening and running its South Florida office.
In addition to serving as Vice President, Planz is a subject matter expert in the area of lean principles in construction. He is involved with the development, training, and implementation of lean practices such as the target value design and pull planning methods. Throughout his career, Planz has participated in many speaking engagements including a design conference in Germany for the Max Planck Institute.
Planz is a graduate of Gannon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
