WEBINAR DESCRIPTION
The 2015 version of the International Green Construction Code has been approved.

The 2015 IgCC creates a regulatory framework for new and existing buildings, establishing minimum green building requirements for buildings and complementing voluntary rating systems, like LEED. The 2015 version of this form code ratchets up, significantly, the energy performance requirements from the current version. And with the delays associated with LEED v4, observers have suggested that a building constructed to this new code will be greener than a LEED 2009 building.

The 2015 IgCC acts as an overlay to the existing set of International Codes, including provisions of the International Energy Conservation Code and ICC 700 - the National Green Building Standard; and incorporates ASHRAE Standard 189.1 2014 as an alternate compliance path.

The IgCC is spreading across the country and it is in your future.

THIS WEBINAR IS DESIGNED TO:
  •  Examine how a clear understanding of the contractor’s unique role and responsibilities in a green building project can create business opportunities and mitigate risk for contractors.
  • Identify new challenges and risks faced by contractors constructing IgCC projects in this fast evolving environment.
  • Explore emerging sustainable design and construction topics such as implementation of the IgCC, including the new 2015 IgCC and how they impact contractors.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Stuart Kaplow is a green building and sustainability attorney based in Maryland. Kaplow represents a broad breadth of business interests across the country, and increasingly internationally, in a varied real estate and environmental law practice, concentrating in green building and sustainability.

Kaplow was recently selected by the American Bar Association as one of ten “Legal Rebels” for his work in creating and advancing the emergent body of law that is green building and sustainability law. Lexblog called him “the Godfather of green building law”.

He publishes the www.greenbuildinglawupdate.com blog, a widely read blog for the entire environmental industrial complex (not just for lawyers).

Kaplow recently authored a law review article “Can Green Building Law Save the Planet?” published in the Journal Of Land And Development.

He is a frequent event speaker. He is often asked to appear at conferences, association meetings, and other events across the country. More than simply a lecturer (although he was a law school professor for more than twenty years) Kaplow is often sought out as a motivation speaker to spread the word about sustainability, weaving the saga of his mountain climbing experiences with his knowledge of green, into fast paced and fun packed talks.

In an effort to gain perspective in matters of sustainable use of land and, admittedly to recreate, Kaplow has trekked to some of the wildest real estate on the planet from Kilimanjaro to Everest, with many summits and mountaineering adventures in between. His complete bio can be found at http://www.ajhon.com/stuartdkaplow.html
