TEST Paragraph
The Construction Management Competition is ABC’s hallmark event promoting careers in construction management. Sponsored and supported by ABC members, the CMC features teams of college and university students testing their project management, estimating, safety, quality control and presentation skills.
This competition gives the nation’s top construction management students a glimpse into the real world of construction, as well as an opportunity to showcase their talents and provides them valuable, resume-building experience. In addition to creating a significant learning opportunity, the competition fosters an environment that will bring out the best in each team, encourages dialogue among the students, builds team spirit and heightens problem-solving skills as students rise to meet this challenge. Please note: Teams will be limited to a total of seven participants for the 2024 competition due to space limitations. Teams are required to have four competitors and a faculty advisor. Teams are allowed to bring up to two alternates. Intent to Compete forms are due Monday, Nov. 20 Deadline to register is Monday, Jan. 8

Competition Overview
The ABC Construction Management Competition provides competing teams an opportunity to experience an actual project that exhibits unique characteristics and issues. Participating teams from the ABC National Student Chapter Network assemble a general contracting firm that represents their school in the competition. Please note: Teams will be limited to a total of seven participants for the 2024 competition due to space limitations. Teams are required to have four competitors and a faculty advisor. Teams are allowed to bring up to two alternates.
All teams competing must be a member of the ABC National Student Chapter Network to participate. The competition will focus on the selection of a general contractor for a project based on a price and technical proposal. The selection will be facilitated in 3 steps outlined below. Step One (Virtual) – Price and Technical Proposal consists of pre- competition work that provides the team an estimated project cost and demonstrates overall experience and capability in constructing the project. This portion is held virtually. Step Two (In-person) – Competition Day consists of a spontaneous exercise in-person led by the Construction Management Competition Committee at the ABC Convention. Step Three (In-person) – Teams that are shortlisted move to Step 3 interviews which consists a face-to-face presentation between the team’s leadership and the Competition Judges. Judges If your company is a ABC member and would like to volunteer to participate as a judge, contact Haley Moyers at [email protected].
