WEBINAR DESCRIPTION
The world of green building certification is changing.  Many new certifications are emerging, some focused on specific components of the building industry and others focused on encouraging a certain impact or result.   This webinar will discuss many of these relatively new certification programs and take an in-depth look at several of the programs gaining traction in the market – LEEDv4, WELL Building Standard, and Living Building Challenge.

LEED has been the standard for green building certification but even this rating system has changed with a new version.  LEEDv4 contributes to this changing of the guard in the certification field.  The impact of the new version is already being felt by suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and designers.  One of the most dramatic changes to LEED is related to materials and their associated certification credit compliance paths.  This includes the consideration of Environmental and Health Product Declarations (EPDs & HPDs) as well as a re-structure of how low-emitting and sustainability characteristics, such as VOCs and recycled content, are tracked and reported.

The WELL Building Standard, pioneered by Delos and administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), is described as the “world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness.”  The standard draws from a large body of evidence-based medical research to create a platform and guide for designing buildings the support the wellbeing of its occupants.

The Living Building Challenge is administered by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) and is one of the most rigorous building standard programs emerging.   While LBC is fundamentally a building certification program, it is emphasized as an “advocacy tool and philosophy that defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today.”  The program is literally a challenge for project teams but ultimately aims to demonstrate advanced solutions that are possible to some of the major issues facing our world.

THIS WEBINAR IS DESIGNED TO:
  • Give attendees more awareness about emerging certifications in the industry
  • Educate attendees about LEEDv4, WELL Building Standard, and Living Building Challenge
  • Encourage attendees to ask more questions and push their project teams to advance sustainability on their projects.
