With the ongoing significance of immigration in U.S. politics, ABC is focused on advocating for an immigration system that secures our borders and effectively enforces immigration laws on the books—all while considering the contributions of hardworking undocumented immigrants currently in the United States and providing employers with a flexible visa system that allows sufficient access to foreign workers.
ABC believes that commonsense, market-driven immigration reforms would allow us to better address the nation’s workforce needs while providing jobs through legal avenues and discouraging illegal immigration. This webinar will discuss ABC’s immigration’s priorities and hear from Rep. Lloyd Smucker, R-Pa., about his proposal to enact a new visa program to alleviate the worker shortage and help employers.
Peter Comstock is ABC’s senior director of legislative affairs. In this role, he works with the legislative affairs team to shape and influence policy on the federal issues important to ABC members and the construction industry.
Rep. Lloyd Smucker is the U.S. congressman for Pennsylvania’s 11th District and has served in the U.S. House since 2017, previously serving in the Pennsylvania State Senate from 2009 to 2016. Smucker is a member of the Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on the Budget and sponsors the ABC-supported Workforce for an Expanding Economy Act. Before being elected to Congress, Smucker owned and operated the Smucker Company, a family-owned commercial construction company, for 25 years.
