Associated Builders and Contractors' (ABC) state-level data series includes an annual breakdown of construction’s contribution to each state’s gross domestic product in addition to monthly updates on state-level construction unemployment. The monthly state employment data are analyzed by Dr. Bernard Markstein and will be released each month according to this schedule.

March Construction Unemployment Rates Down Year Over Year in 37 States, Says ABC

WASHINGTON, May 1—The March 2018 not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate was down 1 percent from March 2017, and estimated construction unemployment rates also fell in 37 states on a year-over-year basis, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). WASHINGTON, April 3—The February 2018 not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate was 7.8 percent, down 1 percent from February 2017 and the lowest national February rate on record, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). January Construction Unemployment Rates Down Year Over Year in All 50 States, Says ABC

WASHINGTON, March 21—Continued strength in construction resulted in a 7.3 percent January 2018 not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate, down 2.1 percent from January 2017 and the lowest national January rate on record, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Further, estimated construction unemployment rates were down in all 50 states on a year-over-year basis.

December Construction Unemployment Rates Down Year Over Year in 46 States as Nation Posts Lowest December Rate on Record, Says ABC

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31—The not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate was 5.9 percent in December, down 1.5 percent from December 2016 and the lowest December rate on record, according to an analysis released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data. Estimated construction unemployment rates were down in 46 states on a year-over-year basis, unchanged in one (Idaho) and up in three states (Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire).

Construction Unemployment Rates Improve in 36 States as Nation Posts Lowest November Rate on Record, Says ABC

WASHINGTON, Jan. 3—The not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate was 5 percent in November, down 0.7 percent from a year ago and the lowest November rate on record, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The construction industry employed 191,000 more workers than in November 2016.
