WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan 31.—December not seasonally adjusted (NSA) construction unemployment rates were down in 26 states and the nation on a year-over-year basis, according to analysis released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The rates for two states, Iowa and Wisconsin, were unchanged from December 2015. The national NSA construction unemployment rate of 7.4 percent was down 0.1 percent from a year ago, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 20– Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today applauded President Trump’s Executive Order XXXXX, which rescinds President Obama’s “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces” Executive Order 13673, commonly referred to as “blacklisting.” Implementation of the blacklisting final rule was temporarily blocked on October 24, 2016, when a U.S. District Court judge for the Eastern District of Texas ruled in favor of ABC’s lawsuit and granted a preliminary injunction against the reporting provisions of the rule. 

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 7– Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today commended the Kentucky Senate’s passage of bills that would end forced unionization and repeal the state’s wasteful prevailing wage law.

The national NSA construction unemployment rate of 5.7 percent was down 0.5 percent from a year ago and unchanged from October, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 3 – Chuck Goodrich, president of Gaylor Electric Inc., an Indianapolis-based, national electrical contractor, began his term as the 2017 chair of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) on Jan. 1, 2017. As chair, Goodrich will guide the 21,000-member association’s national initiatives and lead ABC’s Executive Committee and 170-member Board of Directors.
