Associated Builders and Contractors Chesapeake Shores Chapter, Inc., with the principal office based in Annapolis, Maryland, job description for the MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST with primary focus being the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Associated Builders and Contractors is a national construction industry trade association established in 1950 that represents more than 23,000 members. Founded on the merit shop philosophy, ABC and its 68 chapters help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically and profitably for the betterment of the communities
in which ABC and its members work.

This position is responsible for understanding and promoting the mission of ABC and supporting the chapters strategic plan and vision through regional membership engagement, providing member services, advancing education and safety programs, promoting regional chapter events, facilitating the regional council, and sourcing prospective member leads. Regular visits and contact with members, education contacts, and prospects are a requirement. This position reports directly to the Vice President.

MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT, DEVELOPMENT & GROWTH 

  • Conduct regular member visits and maintain regular contacts and communication with regional members.
  • Provide regional members with information relevant to ABC member value.
  • Promote and track Chapter-wide member involvement in ABC programs and services, committees, projects, and political action.
  • Work with other chapter staff to promote all education and training programs, participation in STEP and Chapter Safety, and Excellence in Construction project submissions.
  • Promote annual sponsorships and advertising opportunities.
  • Motivate and coordinate membership promotion by members and Membership Committee.
  • Source prospective member leads, visits, and follow-ups for Vice President.

REGIONAL & MARQUIS CHAPTER EVENTS

  • Promote and attend all regional events including Happy Hours, Dinners, Clay Shoots etc. throughout the year (5-6 annual regional events).
  • Promote and attend all marquis chapter events including Excellence in Construction & Safety Awards Banquet, Golf Tournament, and Holiday Gala.
  • Promote event sponsorship opportunities for all chapter events.
  • Engage in events/meetings, including onsite registration, coordination, photography.

REGIONAL COMMITTEE/COUNCIL LIAISON

  • Attend monthly council meetings; assist with scheduling, agendas, and meeting minutes.
  • Assist with regional projects, annual goals and strategies, and leadership development.

ADMINISTRATION FUNCTIONS

  • Actively use the Association Management Software (AMS) to record all member communications, program and event registrations, new member data, prospect activity, and other Chapter related data.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in various Chapter and national teleconferences.
  • Provide weekly activity reports and attend regular weekly membership meetings with to the Vice President as required.

EXPECTATIONS

  • This is a non-exempt part time 24 (minimum)- 30 (maximum) hours per week position; no employment benefits other than monthly cell phone and business mileage from primary office reimbursed at the standard IRS rates.
  • Work typically during normal office hours which are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm, and Friday 7:30am-2:00pm with ½ hour per day lunch.
  • All daily work tasks must be logged into the Chapter activity recording database.
  • Daily hours may vary based on seasons and/or Chapter events.
  • Work territory will be primarily the Eastern Shore of Maryland but may also include Western Shore of Maryland.
  • Hybrid office work could be negotiated with the Salisbury office, currently at 208 Main Street Salisbury, considered the “regional office”.
  • Expect to work from principal Annapolis office (100 West Street Annapolis MD 21401) as often as one day a week (subject to change). 100 West Street location has parking in the rear most days.
  • All ABC Chesapeake Shores team members are expected to be flexible and helpful with the ongoing needs of the Chapter within the entire chartered territory which includes 12 Maryland Counties.
  • Office attire is business casual, but may vary from time to time.
  • ABC Chesapeake Shores is a tobacco/smoking/vaping/drug-free environment.
  • Answer office phones and receive/process payments.
  • Reliable transportation is a requirement.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift 15 pounds.
