JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for managing, developing, and administering Total Human Health, Safety, and Workforce Development programs while promoting the mission of ABC, supporting the strategic plan and vision for the Chapter, and assisting the Chapter in educating key audiences on merit shop issues in the construction industry. Regular visits with members, prospective members, vendors, employers, education contacts, and industry partners are a requirement. This position reports directly to the Vice President.

BASIC FUNCTIONS
Develop, administer, and maintain Total Human Health and Safety, workforce development, management education, and apprenticeship programs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

TOTAL HUMAN HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Serve as the ABC STEP staff liaison for the Chapter.
  • Serve as primary Total Human Health and Safety point of contact for the Chapter.
  • Create, promote, and administer Total Human Health and Safety committee and programming for Chapter.
  • Develop promotional materials for Chapter safety initiatives.
  • Drive annual increased STEP participation.


MANAGEMENT EDUCATION

  • Serve as the ABC staff liaison for the Chapter Workforce Development Committee.
  • Plan, develop and administer management education programs to add value to members and financial growth for the Chapter.
  • Research topics, subject matter, instructors to develop new seminars and monitor the profit and loss to make each class viable.
  • Market educational courses to members by telephone, personal visits, email, newsletter, etc.
  • Assist in developing promotional materials to advertise educational programs.
  • Conduct evaluation of course effectiveness, including appropriateness of subject matter, material taught and instructor quality.
  • Procure course instructors and speakers and provide instructor training as required.
  • Develop partnerships with other allied organizations.
  • Serve as point of contact for individual members seeking information or assistance regarding management education and apprenticeship programs.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Chapter staff as needed with day-to-day operations, including answering office phones, receiving and processing payments.
  • Work closely with Vice President to coordinate member and workforce needs.
  • Pursue and administer grant opportunities.
  • Supply information for member billings and monitor status of open accounts regarding education.
  • Prepare workforce development, Total Human Health, and Safety articles for Chapter newsletter
  • Attend various Chapter Meetings and Chapter Events as appropriate.
  • Drive general membership efforts to support new membership recruitment and renewal efforts – especially participating employers.
  • Visit members through either drop-in meetings, scheduled meetings, cold-calls, onsite or elsewhere.
  • Communicates regularly with members, ABC National office, government agencies, committees, instructors, colleges, universities, local technical schools and others.
  • Assists other departments with responses to member queries.
  • Reports to Vice President.
  • Serves as ABC staff liaison to the Apprenticeship Trust, Maryland Apprenticeship Training Council (MATC), Workforce Development and Total Human Health Safety Committees.


EXPECTATIONS

  • This is a non-exempt full time position; includes employment benefits, and cell phone and business mileage from primary office to work related locales (not commuting) reimbursed at the standard IRS rates.
  • Work typically during normal office hours which are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm, and Friday 7:30am-2:00pm with ½ hour per day lunch.
  • All daily work tasks must be logged into the Chapter activity recording database.
  • Daily hours may vary based on seasons and/or Chapter events.
  • Chapter territory includes the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and the Western Shore of Maryland.
  • Hybrid home-office/principal office work could possibly be negotiated.
  • 100 West Street location has parking in the rear most days.
  • All ABC Chesapeake Shores team members are expected to be flexible and helpful with the ongoing needs of the Chapter within the entire chartered territory which includes 12 Maryland Counties.
  • Office attire is business casual, but may vary from time to time.
  • ABC Chesapeake Shores is a tobacco/smoking/vaping/drug-free environment.
  • Reliable transportation is a requirement.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift 15 pounds.
