House Passes Bill Overriding EPA Regulation of Coal Ash

The U.S. House of Representatives Sept. 19 passed the Stop the War on Coal Act (H.R. 3409), a package of bills that benefits the construction industry by preventing drastic increases in energy costs, avoiding the disruption of crucial supply chains and preserving existing jobs. In response to a U.S. House of Representatives’ Judiciary Committee hearing titled, “Regulation Nation: The Obama Administration’s Regulatory Expansion vs. Jobs and Economic Recovery,” ABC Sept. 20 called for comprehensive regulatory reform and offered its support for a series of bills that will help achieve that goal. ABC To Hold Two Construction Management Competitions And Career Fairs In 2013

ABC recently announced it will be moving its annual ABC Student Chapter Construction Management Competition (CMC) and Career Fair to the fall beginning in 2014. As part of the transition, these events will be held twice in 2013, in both the spring and the fall.

ABC Requests Feedback On E-Verify Changes

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Sept. 11 announced it was opening a 60-day comment period to gather feedback on changes made to the E-Verify program. ABC is encouraging members to respond and is offering a template to help with the process. Read the rest of entry »

ABC Offers Feedback on D.C.'s Health Insurance Exchange Proposal

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, states will be required to operate health insurance exchanges – marketplaces where individuals and small businesses can purchase private health insurance – beginning in 2014.
