ABC Indiana Helps Community Center Bring Toys to Children

Chapter staff and members of the ABC Indiana chapter received praise from a local charitable organization, the Shepherd Community Center, after donating toys to hundreds of children in need. At their annual Holiday Fest, members and staff were asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy which were taken to the Shepherd Community Center where local parents were given appointment times to come and shop for their children.

The organization, which aims to help families break the cycle of poverty, filled up six rooms with the donated toys where the parents chose gifts to take home to their children for Christmas. There was also a gift-wrapping station to get the finishing touches needed to put the gifts underneath their tree at home.

“The love that was shown to these people who came to shop restored in many of them the belief that we are all in this together and that others that have never met them care about them and their children,” said John Blatzheim from the Shepherd Community Center. “I know that we at Shepherd will be carrying the message that ABC is an organization worth noticing.”

The ABC Indiana chapter showed just how easy it is to give back to the people that live in your community who are less fortunate.
