Nonresidential Spending Regains Momentum in January

Nonresidential construction spending crested the $700 billion mark on a seasonally adjusted annualized basis in January for the first time since March 2009, according to analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Nonresidential construction spending expanded 2.5 percent on a monthly basis and 12.3 percent on a yearly basis, totaling $701.9 billion. The Census Bureau upwardly revised December’s estimate from $681.2 billion to $684.5 billion, though they downgraded November’s figure from $683.7 to $680.5 million. Nonresidential Spending Falls Again in December

WASHINGTON, D.C. Feb. 1—Nonresidential construction spending dipped for a second consecutive month, falling 0.4 percent on a monthly basis in December, according to analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Tepid GDP Growth a Sign Construction Spending May Sputter; Decline Unlikely

Real gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by just 0.7 percent (seasonally adjusted annual rate) during the fourth quarter of 2015, according to an analysis of the Bureau of Economic Analysis data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). This paltry growth follows a 2 percent increase during the year’s third quarter and a 3.9 percent increase during the second quarter. Nonresidential Construction Spending Slips in November; Ominous Indications in Census Bureau Report

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 4- Nonresidential construction spending dipped by 0.8 percent in November, totaling $688.1 billion on a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis, according to analysis of  U.S. Census Bureau data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). This represents the worst monthly performance since April 2015. August marked the seventh consecutive month nonresidential construction spending expanded according to an Oct. 1 release supplied by the U.S. Census Bureau. Nonresidential spending totaled $696.3 billion on a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis in August, a 0.3 percent increase from the previous month and a 12.3 percent increase from the same time last year. Nonresidential Construction Spending Continues to Grow Through Mid-Summer

Nonresidential construction spending expanded 0.5 percent in July and is up 12.7 percent on a year-over-year basis, according to a Sept. 1 release by the U.S. Census Bureau. This represents the strongest year-over-year percentage growth in spending since April 2008. On a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis, nonresidential construction spending totaled $696.1 billion in July, which is the best reading since March 2009. Additionally, June’s estimate was upwardly revised 0.9 percent from $686.9 billion to $692.8 billion.
