Washington, D.C. – By a bipartisan vote of 211 to 209, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2013 (H.R. 4310) that prohibits federal agencies from mandating anti-competitive and costly project labor agreements (PLAs) on federal construction contracts authorized by the NDAA.

Washington, D.C. – Five of the nation’s largest construction trade associations have teamed up to form the Construction Coalition for a Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace (CCDAFW). The coalition’s mission is to create a drug- and alcohol-free construction industry by providing companies and organizations with the resources necessary to implement drug- and alcohol-free policies into their business practices.

Washington, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced the winners of its 12th annual Student Chapter Construction Management Competition during the 2012 ABC EdCon and Expo, April 24-27 in San Antonio. Teams of students from 25 colleges and universities across the nation competed for more than $6,000 in cash and prizes, as well as the coveted “Construction Management Champions” title.
