ABC Urges Swift Action in the Senate to Enact Paycheck Protection Program Fixes

WASHINGTON, May 28—Associated Builders and Contractors Vice President of Legislative and Political Affairs Kristen Swearingen today lauded the passage of H.R. 7010, the Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act, by the U.S. House of Representatives and urged the U.S. Senate to quickly take up the legislation:

“This bipartisan legislation implements much-needed fixes to the Paycheck Protection Program, including adjusting current restrictions on nonpayroll expenses, extending loan forgiveness beyond the eight-week covered period and extending the rehiring deadline for employers. These critical changes will give small businesses, which make up the majority of the U.S. construction industry, the additional flexibility and extensions necessary to continue working through the COVID-19 outbreak and ensure they have the necessary resources to lead the economic comeback once the crisis is over. On behalf of ABC’s 21,000-plus members, I urge the U.S. Senate to quickly take up this legislation and get it to President Trump to sign.”
