ABC issues news releases on the latest workforce, policy and industry issues, as well as construction-related economic data and trends. Commercial and industrial construction economic analyses include federal data on construction spending, employment, job openings and the Producer Price Index. 

In addition, ABC produces the Construction Backlog Indicator, the only economic indicator that reflects the amount of work that will be performed by commercial and industrial construction contractors in the months ahead, and the Construction Confidence Index, a diffusion index that signals construction contractors’ expectations for sales, profit margins and staffing levels. ABC Announces 2020 National Diversity Excellence Award Winners

GRAPEVINE, Texas, March 11—Associated Builders and Contractors has named the winners of the 2020 National Diversity Excellence Awards, an annual recognition of ABC members that display exemplary diversity leadership in their company, workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices and training and mentoring programs. The winners were honored at the 31st annual Excellence in Construction® Awards at ABC Convention 2021 in Grapevine, Texas.  

“Diversity, equity and inclusion are values that are evident in the leadership, culture and mission of the 2020 National Diversity Excellence award-winning companies,” said 2021 ABC National Chair of the Board of Directors Steve Klessig, vice president of architecture and engineering, Keller Inc., Kaukauna, Wisconsin. “We applaud these construction industry leaders for their unparalleled commitment to not only hiring and developing a diverse and talented workforce but also creating an inclusive, respectful and safe work environment. This dedication moves our industry forward, ensuring a bright future is built for the next generation of craft professionals.”

Awards were presented in three categories:

  • General Contractor: Hensel Phelps, Greeley, Colorado
  • Subcontractor: Helix Electric, San Diego, California
  • Supplier: United Rentals, Stamford, Connecticut

Award winners were selected by a panel of diverse industry partner associations that share ABC’s commitment to grow and deliver value to a diverse, inclusive and equitable workforce. ABC’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee—formed to better reach underrepresented communities within the constructions sector—provides leadership and direction to chapters and member companies to promote inclusion, diversity and equity as an empowering competitive advantage through education, awareness and business practices.
