House Approves Measure That Ensures Open Competition On Federal Defense Projects

Washington, D.C. – By a bipartisan vote of 211 to 209, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2013 (H.R. 4310) that prohibits federal agencies from mandating anti-competitive and costly project labor agreements (PLAs) on federal construction contracts authorized by the NDAA.

ABC Applauds Amendment To Ensure Fair And Open Competition On Military Construction Projects

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations passed an amendment to the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2013. The amendment, offered by Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), prevents federal agencies from requiring contractors to sign anti-competitive and costly project labor agreements (PLAs) as a condition of winning federal construction contracts.

National Trade Groups Team Up To Create A Drug- And Alcohol-Free Construction Industry
