In addition, ABC produces the Construction Backlog Indicator, the only economic indicator that reflects the amount of work that will be performed by commercial and industrial construction contractors in the months ahead, and the Construction Confidence Index, a diffusion index that signals construction contractors’ expectations for sales, profit margins and staffing levels. Construction Input Prices Surge to Start 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 14—Construction input prices collectively rose by 1 percent on a monthly basis and 3.8 percent on a year-over-year basis, according to analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors. This represents the fastest year-over-year rate of materials price inflation since the beginning of 2012. Construction Job Growth Rebounds in 2017

Nonresidential Spending Falters Slightly to End 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 1—Nonresidential construction spending slipped 0.7 percent in the final month of 2016, but increased 4.6 percent over the previous year, according to analysis of  U.S. Census Bureau data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
